Library Storage Facility Building  1985

Recreation Center Expansion  1987

Renovate Wheeler Hall  1993 (CDB-825-020-069)
Interior and exterior renovation of a two-story historic structure occupied by the School of Medicine; scope involved expansion to the third (attic) floor level and new mechanical/ electrical building systems. Total window and roof replacement and restoration of interior finishes, doors, trim and millwork included. This renovation was featured in the winter 1993-94 issue of the Alumnus magazine and received the 1993 bi-annual design award from the Southern Illinois AIA Chapter. (Click on camera to view image)
Biological Sciences Building - Phase I  1993-95 (CDB-825-020-070)
A two story with mechanical penthouse building of approximately 81,000 square feet housing biological sciences laboratories, offices, a vivarium and related support spaces. Design Architect was Schmidt, Garden & Erikson, Inc. of Chicago.

Biological Sciences Building - Phase II Annex  1994-95 (CDB-825-020-070)
An addition of 9,500 square feet to the Phase I project providing a lecture hall and related areas. Design Architect was Schmidt, Garden & Erikson, Inc. of Chicago.

Closeout Services  1996-97 (CDB-825-020-070)
Since Schmidt, Garden & Erikson, Inc. declared bankruptcy prior to the completion and closeout of the above projects, Stein/Eggemeyer was retained by the Capital Development Board to assist with their finalization. Bill Stein handled all administrative tasks required to facilitate closeout.
Engineering Building - Section E  1995-97 (CDB-825-020-072)
A 88,000 square feet multi-level major addition to the School of Engineering building complex designed by Phillips, Swager Associates, Inc. of Peoria.

Replace Cooling Tower Screens/Components, Neckers Building  1996-97 (CDB-825-020-099)
This project involved replacement of roof top cooling tower components, piping and repair as well as removal/replacement of screening for cooling tower equipment and upgrading of structural supports with Bernhardt Structural Engineering as consultant.
Construct Electron Microscopy Building  1996-97 (CDB-825-020-106)
A new single story 5,200 square feet structure to house electron microscopy laboratories and support services.

UNITY POINT SCHOOL

Miscellaneous Renovations and Roof Restoration   1990

This project consisted of removal/expansion/renovation of existing special education classrooms, installation of a classroom unit ventilator, installation of new partition, lighting revisions, removal and disposal of existing smooth surface built-up roof membrane, temporary and permanent removal of existing metal flashing, guttering, gravel stops, roof drains and related items, removal/replacement of wood nailers and fascias, removal of existing roof curbs, minor repairs to existing lightweight concrete roof deck, installation of rigid roof insulation board, installation of fully adhered EPDM elastomeric roofing membrane and installation of new roof components including flashings, guttering, gravel stops, roof drains and other related items.

Life Safety Corrective Work   1991

Work consisted of removal/replacement of doors, frames and hardware, reglazing at exit doors, trophy cases, removal/replacement of roofing shingles, replacement of existing exit sidewalk, plumbing work including installation of vent piping on sinks and water coolers, new vacuum breakers, new trap on service sink, mechanical work including installation of combustion air dampered louver through wall at kitchen food storage area, and electrical work including expansion of system and replacement of various components in conjunction with building fire alarm system, repair/replacement of damaged exit signs and additional emergency lighting and related work.

Roof Replacement at 1979 Addition   1994

Work consisted of removal of existing smooth surface built-up bituminous roof including related flashings and underlying insulation, installation of single-ply, fully adhered EPDM roof membrane over new roof insulation board, installation of new perimeter sheet metal flashings and fascia covers, new EPDM flashings at roof curbs, wall and other penetrations and removal/replacement of deteriorated sections of the existing metal roof deck and wood blocking and nailers.

HVAC Modifications   1995

Work included installation of condensing units, refrigerant piping, power wiring and devices, new power panel and revisions to controls to convert seven (7) existing heating only unit ventilators with existing direct expansion cooling coils to heating and cooling units.

New Electrical Service   1997

This project consisted of demolition and removal of certain existing distribution equipment and feeders, new circuit breaker type switchboard, new meter and CT cabinet, new service feeders, new current limiting fuses and extension of existing feeders to new switchboard.

Classroom Addition   1998

A 8,200 sq. ft. addition for six classrooms to the existing building. (Click on camera to view image)

This work consisted of the following repairs at the Central Campus and East Campus:

Central Campus

Repair of existing bleachers, including replacement of the base board supports and painting of all steel bleacher support frames at the Football Stadium; replacement/repair of doors and hardware, replacement of exiting glazing, modifying toilet rooms to comply with accessibility requirements, replacement of domestic hot water boiler, replacement of 100 l.f. of underground gas distribution piping, installation of vacuum breaker, new exhaust system components, installation of additional fire alarm system, additional emergency light, GFCI protected receptacles, new switchboard components, installation of handrails for exterior entrance stair, replacement of plumbing fixtures, new unit heaters, installation of backflow prevention devices, revision of ventilation.

East Campus

Removal/replacement of doors, frames and hardware, replacement of glazing, installation of new indirect ice maker waste connection, vacuum breakers at exterior wall hydrants, replacement of two electric water coolers, installation of combustion air dampers, repairing various exhaust fans, installation of additional heat detectors, installation of GFCI receptacles, replacement of Computer Room conduit, installation of new lighting fixtures and renovation of toilets for accessibility.

Chiller and Cooling Tower Replacement   1993

This project consisted of replacement of air conditioning chiller and cooling tower and all related work at the East Campus and replacement of air conditioning cooling tower and all related work at the Central Campus Learning Center.
